Vacancy devices are Manual On / Auto Off. It's really the best way to have a sensor, specifically in room adjacent to high traffic areas. Simplt turn the switch or in this case dimmer on when you enter the room and it will go off after it stops sensing motion and times out.
Vacancy sensor are required as part of California's title 24(T24) measures and other states with energy conservation codes.
Please note on some of the darker colors especially, the motion sensor lens only remains white. You might consider a ultrasonic version or ceiling mount sensor with Maestro Wireless receiver if this bothers you.
Passive Infrared Vacancy Sensor C·L Dimmer Combines the benefits of an occupancy sensor (automatically switches lights on and off) with the benefits of a dimmer. Works with dimmable CFL and LED bulbs, as well as incandescent and halogen bulbs.
